Our website address is: https://yeeps.co.nz. Yeeps is a friend-matching service operating in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is designed to foster meaningful, non-romantic social connections. Yeeps is operated by a small team of human curators. We are not psychologists, mental health practitioners, or certified support workers.

We are not responsible for clinical outcomes or the mental health of participants. Participation in the Yeeps programme is voluntary and curated by non-clinical staff.

What Data We Collect

  • Form submissions (e.g. intake preferences, personality traits)
  • Contact details (name, email address)
  • Browser data, IP address, and user agent for spam filtering
  • Cookies (used for login, session continuity, and user preferences)

Use of Data

Your data is used solely to help us:

  • Match you with compatible individuals in the Yeeps programme
  • Follow up on your application and communicate with you directly
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of our platform

Comments and Media

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser agent string to help spam detection. If you upload images, please avoid including EXIF data that contains location information.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email and website in cookies for convenience. Cookies last for up to one year. Login sessions use temporary cookies to verify functionality and user preferences.

Embedded Content

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Data may be shared internally between authorised Yeeps team members to facilitate the matching process. Password reset requests will include the requesting IP address for security.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Intake submissions and matches may be retained for up to 12 months to allow for follow-up matching, audit trails, and service evaluation. You may request deletion at any time.

Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, export of, or deletion of your personal data. Please contact hello@yeeps.co.nz with any data requests. We will comply in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Data Security

All personal data is stored on secure, access-restricted servers. We use SSL encryption and strong access controls. However, no system is completely immune to risk. You participate in Yeeps with the understanding that absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Legal Responsibility

By using Yeeps, you acknowledge that the programme is not a therapeutic, clinical, or regulated health service. The creators, operators, and any staff or volunteers involved are not liable for outcomes resulting from matched interactions. You participate at your own discretion.
